The shirt reads: “SCHOOL SUPPLY SMELL.”
Two lines of rounded bubble lettering, navy over yellow, arched slightly. There is no illustration.
Everybody knows the smell — new erasers, freshly sharpened pencils, the inside of an unopened pencil case — and nobody can describe it. Naming it is the entire design. For teachers, stationery obsessives, and anyone who still opens a new notebook and inhales.
It is one of the few shirts here written for a sense rather than a joke, and the bubble lettering is doing the nostalgia deliberately. For anyone whose favourite part of September was the shopping.
